Position Summary
  • Monday to Thursday night (4x8hrs): Operation tasks
  • Friday night (1x8hrs): Sanitation taks

Reporting to the Production Team Leader and Sanitation Supervisor, the production operator will perform various tasks on a production line and sanitize/clean the facility and production equipment according to the company’s procedures. The individual will carry out various functions like processing, sorting, packing and operating process machinery. The production operator must maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Must be able to work effectively in a team-based environment, set priorities to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks. 

Responsibilities

Operation tasks

  • Maintain a clean work environment by following food and workplace safety procedures, rules, and regulations;
  • Maintain production line operational by assisting line operators with process problems, making equipment adjustments;
  • Monitor products conformity and ensure compliance to company’s standards and perform adjustments to equipment if/when needed;
  • Record production data such as quantity, weight, size and types of products packaged;
  • Informs leader of any production problems that may negatively affect the production performance according to company standards;
  • Assist with change overs;
  • Ability to rotate and learn different areas of the production line/multiple lines including a variety of product production;
  • Relieve team members as needed (breaks, lunches, absent team member, vacation);
  • Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement, working within the company team to make it a more efficient and safe place to work;

     

    Sanitation tasks

    • Willing to perform different tasks per the supervisor's instructions and in accordance with all safety guidelines mandated by the employer;
    • Follow GMP guideline and follow safety practices, including but not limited to: Lock out tag out, chemical handling, proper lifting techniques, proper PPE;
    • Report food safety issues to the Sanitation Supervisor;
    • Follow Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure (SSOP) guidelines as they refer to proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment required for this position;
    • Must be able to read and follow instructions for chemical usage and cleaning specifications as set by the company;
    • Ability to use cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and high pressure and low pressure water hoses;
    • Perform machine breakdown for cleaning purposes; disassemble and reassemble production equipment;
    • Manually clean equipment; rinse, foam, scrub and sanitize production equipment; clean in place equipment (CIP) ensuring that all areas meet standard requirements;
    • Complete sanitation daily documentation (checklists) accurately;
    • Return all sanitation documents and tools at end of shift;
    • Communicate with Supervisor and/or Team Leader regarding any sanitation concerns observed throughout shift.
    Requirements
    • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred;
    • Previous manufacturing and/or food production experience is preferable;
    • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices in food production is preferable;
    • Ability to work with others in a fast-paced team environment;
    • Ability to learn multiple positions and be able to work these positions on varying schedules;
    • Excellent manual dexterity;
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time;
    • Ability to effectively understand and follow a variety of guidelines and work procedures (including health, safety, hygiene and sanitation), alongside prioritizing and organizing workload;
    • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting through root cause problem solving;
    • Basic math skills;
    • Knowledge of chemicals used in food plant cleaning and sanitation, in addition to practices and procedures;
    • Ability to stand; walk; for long periods of time;
    • Able and willing to work 10hrs daily;
