Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning and directing all maintenance activities to ensure that work is performed in a safe, effective, secure, and resource efficient manner. The Maintenance Manager supports a team of maintenance mechanics and ensures maximum equipment efficiency. In addition, he/she provides leadership to the team of mechanics, ensuring their commitment and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance activities and implementation of programs to ensure compliance with health and safety standards in order to achieve maximum productivity;
  • Manage and lead the maintenance team in the execution of work;
  • Support the maintenance team on a daily basis and act as a technical resource;
  • Implement and manage routine systems to resolve technical issues;
  • Review budgets and schedules to ensure the smooth running of ongoing projects;
  • Identify and prioritize major maintenance issues with production and initiate and develop action plans to resolve these issues;
  • Communicate performance issues to supervisors, team members and management;
  • Identify improvement opportunities and provide technical support in the optimization of equipment;
  • Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices for his/her team, chemical management (food vs. non-food) and management of high risk maintenance work;
  • Promote a positive work environment through teamwork;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Degree in mechanics, automation, electricity or other relevant fields;
  • 4 years of relevant experience combining technical experience and team management, preferably in a food manufacturing environment;
  • Known for his leadership and rigor;
  • Have excellent people management skills;
  • Knowledge of PLC Allen Bradley (asset);
  • Knowledge of programming language (asset);
  • Computer knowledge: SAP (asset) & Microsoft Office; 
  • Strong communication skills, excellent judgment, ethical and results oriented.
