SUMMARY OF THE FUNCTION Reporting to the Director of Operations Accounting, the Controller will support the Brockville plant. He/she will act as a guardian of good practices in the analysis and control of costs related to the plant's operations. He/she will support the internal management team in understanding variances and issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Director, Operations Accounting on special projects, as opportunities arise.
- Contribute to the optimization of operational accounting processes.
- Coordinate and actively participate in the budget process for the Brockville plant.
- Target profitability opportunities for the plant.
- Analyze and explain the performance of the plant on a monthly basis.
- Review cost prices and evaluate the impact on profit margins.
- Perform rigorous cost control.
- Ensure the conformity and validity of operational data in the computer system.
- Implement management tools and reports to provide relevant information to internal managers.
- Participate in the determination of relevant performance indicators and monitor them.
- Contribute to the plant's strategic decision making.
- Act as a resource person for the management team.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the SAP system and identify opportunities for improvement as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting or other relevant training.
- Hold an accounting designation from the CPA Order (CMA, CGA or CA).
- Have 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of costing.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of the Office Suite; knowledge of SAP software would be an asset.
- Demonstrate thoroughness, good organizational skills and the ability to manage several files simultaneously.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Be a dynamic, available, autonomous person with a good capacity to adapt.
- Demonstrate good analytical skills and the ability to solve problems while remaining focused on the plant's operations.
- Be fluent in English
