Position Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance manager, the maintenance control technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing electronics, PLC and robotic equipment in the facility. She / He will also be required to do programming, calibration, tests and installation of such equipment. She / He must have a thorough understanding of PLCs, VFDs, servos, communication systems, sensors and other high tech components and equipment. In addition, the control technician will have the opportunity to train and perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, installations and other duties to support the site.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot faulty equipment, diagnose malfunctions, perform corrective actions to restore working condition
  • Maintain and repair PLCs, VFDs, vision system, sensors, communication network, control panels and other control related equipment and components
  • Program PLCs, VFDs, servos, HMI as required
  • Install, test and calibrate electronics components in systems and control panels
  • Assist major issues by being the on-site hands and eyes of a remotely connected OEM
  • Update schematics when changes are made
  • Develop a deep understanding of the plant’s equipment ladder programming
  • Become the industrial control expert and go-to resource in the plant
  • Perform all duties with diligence and attention to details

Requirements

  • Technical degree in industrial controls/PLC or equivalent education/experience
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry
  • Practical experience and working knowledge of Rockwell components and software, such as: RS logix 500/5000, Factory talk View Studio, Panel Builder
  • Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a strong curiosity, willing to learn and understand the plant’s ever evolving technology
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to develop mechanical skills to support site operations.
