Summary Under the supervision of the Senior Director, Canadian Operations, the incumbent will be paired with an experienced plant manager in order to become familiar with the organization's processes, practices and management tools. He/she will be entrusted with a variety of mandates that may involve operations, OHS, continuous improvement, management and support to corporate projects.

The candidate must have the desire to progress to the role of plant manager and opportunities in Canadian plants will be offered to him/her in this sense following his/her succession mandate.

Possible location: Hawkesbury  Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the deployment and maintenance of the AMS PRO2 active supervision/close management system;
  • Participate in the implementation of the continuous improvement and health and safety plan;
  • Define operational needs and opportunities, propose an action plan and see to its implementation;
  • Ensure the replacement of the various position (team leader, Busness unit leader, plant manager)
  • Actively participate in meetings offered to him/her;
  • Participate in the decision-making process in case of problems;
  • Collaborate during the realization of internal and external audits;
  • Implement recommendations following internal audits;
  • Actively participate in the implementation of programs aimed at improving organizational efficiency;
  • Support managers in the management of their team;
  • Propose and plan training activities to develop the team.
  

The Plant Manager has the following responsibilities: 

Strategic Component 

  • With the Senior Director, Canadian Operations, develop and execute the annual plan and budgets based on the company's objectives;
  • Participate in the development of policies, direct and coordinate safety activities in relation to company standards and WSIB-OSHA compliance;
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase health and safety, quality and efficiency;
  • Analyze and monitor plant expenses to ensure compliance and budgetary requirements ;
  • Work with plant management in planning, budgeting, organizing resources, performing work, monitoring production and quality, coordinating priorities, resolving issues and participating in special projects; and
  • Ensure site compliance with all labor, safety and environmental regulations;
  • Prepare management reports;
  • Collaborate with research and development to develop new product strategies.
  Operational Component 
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are met by supporting and participating in regular health and safety meetings;
  • Plan, organize, implement and monitor work schedules, outside vendors based on normal plant needs and special projects ;
  • Directs plant production and maintenance personnel in daily activities to ensure safe and efficient maintenance of equipment and facilities;
  • Review established production schedules for production to ensure that established inventory levels are met while operating with the highest possible efficiency;
  • Monitor and minimize waste;
  • Analyze production problems, identify their root cause and establish procedures to reduce or eliminate them;
  • Ensure the preventive maintenance program for all systems and equipment to minimize downtime;
  • Support internal and external audits.
  Team Management Component 
  • Hire, direct, and coach staff to ensure performance objectives are met;
  • Ensure that all teams are trained/qualified/authorized for the various tasks and jobs they must perform;
  • Manage employees directly or through managers
 Required skills and abilities 
  • University degree in food science and technology, administration (operations management) or other relevant academic background;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the manufacturing sector;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Committed to working with and leading people;
  • Solution oriented and enjoys being in action;
  • Good at managing priorities and multi-tasking;
  • Proficient in computerized technologies - touch screens and automated systems;
  • Takes initiative and perseveres in the face of various challenges;
  • Collaborative team player with a "roll up your sleeves" approach;
  • Communicates effectively in both official languages - French & English ;
  • Asset:
    • Availability for temporary or permanent mobility to another site in Ontario (Brockville-Cornwall-Hawkesbury);
