Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Business Partner plays a critical role in the effectiveness of the company. From hiring, to keeping track of all the employee records, the HR Business Partner is the hands-on representative of their HR department. The individual’s primary focus is to act as an advisor and coach to the Plant Manager, the plant leadership team and their employees. In addition to ensuring delivery of all traditional human resources activities, s/he will have the opportunity to contribute to the recommendation and implementation of HR Programs which impact all US plants.

Responsibilities

  • Development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance;
  • Participate in the development of strategies and means to achieve the objectives of the plant in the field of human resources management;
  • Work with the occupational health and safety team to improve and maintain best practices in this area and to support managers in their workplace health and safety monitoring activities;
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, non-exempt and temporary workers; writes and places advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checking; extends job offers; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling; conducts exit interviews;
  • Coordinate employee benefit eligibility, enrollments, terminations, and payments;
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations;
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues;
  • Act as a coach with the plant leadership team with a view to developing their skills and those of their team;
  • Support employee development by working with management on individual and/or group training needs;
  • Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics;
  • Maintain employee personnel files to ensure legal compliance;
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws;
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures;
  • Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover;
  • Provide timely assistance to team members regarding benefit and human resource questions and issues;
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs;
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings;
  • Serving as back-up for payroll processing, if current processor is unavailable and adequate training is provided. Assist with payroll process as needed to ensure efficient and accurate processing;
  • Assist in preparation of special events such as Year End Celebration and other office or company gatherings;
  • Assist with additional projects, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; SHRM Certification an asset;
  • 5-10 years of human resource experience preferably within manufacturing;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability for decision making under pressure;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent judgment, strong sense of ethics & integrity, result oriented;
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional time management; Ability to work under moderate supervision;
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer based application (I pad, One Note, etc.);
  • Ability to work in office setting; Ability to frequently type and write on computer and use phone;
  • Ability to work 8-10hrs daily; flexible with work hours and be able to work overtime and weekends when needed.
