SUMMARY OF THE FUNCTION


Reporting to the Vice President, Supply Chain, the incumbent works to establish the organization's purchasing policies with respect to the purchase of maintenance products and industrial supplies. With experience in MRO purchasing, he supports his team (Canadian and American) by ensuring the smooth running of the purchasing process for all plants. He actively participates in the improvement of the process and the implementation of procedures to achieve the strategic objectives of his department.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES


 

  • Establish the team’s objectives and ensure their achievement;
  • Lead the MRO and Supplies purchasing team in ensuring compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines;
  • Actively participate in operational tasks for assigned materials;
  • Deploy and ensure that procurement processes and controls are in place for all purchasing activities taking into account time, quantity and price factors;
  • Work closely with the maintenance team;
  • Maintain up-to-date product/supplier system information;
  • Manage specific issues related to the supply of materials under the responsibility of his team;
  • Negotiate supplier agreements and contracts;
  • Provide ongoing support for the professional development of team members;
  • Actively participate in the evaluation and qualification of the organization's sources of supply;
  • Prepare reports and analyses related to the performance of his department;
  • Develop strategic alliances with strong partners to enhance the organization's effectiveness;
  • Work closely with other stakeholders in the organization.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to purchasing;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, five (5) of which must be in the food industry and five (5) in the MRO purchasing management;
  • Excellent analytical skills and good judgment;
  • Excellent planning and project management skills;
  • Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills;
  • Demonstrates leadership skills to motivate and engage the team and contribute to the development of its members;
  • Demonstrates credibility with team members and suppliers;
  • Results oriented, considering the management of multiple files in a constantly changing environment;
  • Proficiency in both official languages (spoken and written);
  • Computer skills (MS Office and ERP system - SAP MM and PM);
  • This position is based at the head office in Quebec City;
  • Available to travel outside of Canada;
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
