SUMMARY OF THE POSITION 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Private Label Sales, Innovation and R&D, the Category Analyst will support the execution of Biscuits Leclerc's business plan by assisting the sales team in the tactical execution of our plans, strategies, and developments of products. The category analyst will be responsible for identifying market opportunities for specific clients and disseminating information resulting from their analyses. The analyst will also help the sales team by providing recommendations to address various issues related to in-store positioning, pricing, and customer promotional strategies.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain standardized reports on client sales and go-to-market strategies.
  • Develop “Gold Standard” planograms to work with the sales team and identify opportunities.
  • Ensure an optimal assortment of products and use shelf space efficiently.
  • Track and measure point-of-sale data and promotional data to identify trends and new sales opportunities.
  • Proactively identify customer opportunities for our private brands around the 4 P principle.
  • Analyze available databases (Nielsen, Mintel, etc.), identify and communicate category trends to clients.
  • Develop and present analytics by category to support key sales initiatives.
  • Interpret research and category performance results and incorporate into customer reviews as requested.
  • Develop ideas for renovation and development of our categories.
  • Participate, as needed, in meetings with customers in support of the sales team.
  • Structure and maintain a general source of analysis around customer data.
  • Provide analysis and insights to drive sales team execution excellence and cost control initiatives through process improvement.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • University degree or equivalent in business-related courses; 
  • Three years of experience in the packaged goods sector;
  • Complete working knowledge of A.C. Nielsen;
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • An appreciation of the Effective Customer Response (E.C.R.) process and understanding of category management;
  • Be autonomous with the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written – in English and French;
  • Having an entrepreneurial spirit is an asset.
